Описание работы
I am a third year Surface Pattern Design student at Leeds Arts University in the UK. I have really enjoyed taking part in this competition, where I have produced new work for the Optimism Theme.
MicroNature ~ a visual investigation of my connection with nature and the northern landscape. I have explored the cyanotype process and used the natural elements, sunlight and rivers, to expose and develop my fabric sample designs. Each design is unique, where the process allows for unexpected natural surface textures. I have used photography and digital exploration to capture the best moments of the process.
Optimism ~ Looking closely at this theme, I have explored the flora of New Zealand. The different colours and shapes of the flowers really intrigued me and this theme has pushed my work in a new way to use bright primary colours, following a women’s colour print trend for 2021. The designs have subtle references to Koru, a spiral shape based on the unfurling silver fern, which symbolises new growth and strength.
